CANOPY TOUR is an exciting ECO adventure. Zipping from tree to tree, explore the indigenous jungle "canopy" over the breath taking Orquidias River. The tour offers a total of 15 cables and the longest is 350 meters. Traveling along at 30 mph, take in the wonderful sights and sounds of Mexico's magnificent environment.
Your tour begins at the south end of Puerto Vallarta where our bilingual driver escorts you on a scenic, complimentary drive along the southern tropical coastline. From our air conditioned van or covered open-air Mercedes jungle cruiser, view the lovely beaches, palatial ocean side mansions and the picturesque Los Arcos Isles-a bird sanctuary. Once arriving in Los Juntas de los Veranos, the friendly experienced staff will secure you in a professional climbing harness.
Here you are thoroughly briefed about the adventure on which you are about to embark. Guides are fluent in English and extremely safety oriented. Along the way the guides share their knowledge and individual brand of humor.
Among these ancient trees, our guides will point out local coffee trees, vanilla vines, exotic orchids and cactus used to make tequila. (Some explanations of which are derived from myth and some factual- a great opportunity to test your knowledge). The forest is alive with bromeliads, philodendrons, strangler figs and tree-bound termite nests used by migrating parakeets to house and feed their offspring. No matter what, you will find diverse cornucopia coexisting here in this ecological preserve.
A short 3-5 minute walk among the jungle flora brings you to a spiral staircase. This consists of a well-balanced, well anchored, spiral metal staircase where you are tethered while awaiting your turn. Guides carry your gear, prepare you and send and receive you at each cable. Depending on weight and maturity, children may be requested to ride tandem with a guide.
This first cable," the launching point" from the spiral staircase, is a practice run and designed to inspire confidence. The guides put you at ease and soon any fear of heights you may have melts into the beauty of your surroundings. The cables are designed to gradually take you higher and faster. You'll ride cables our customers have named as the "Banana Split", "Speedy Gonzalez"and "The Big Enchilada". In the series of the last six, you'll find yourself gliding over a dramatic river gorge filled with granite boulders.
The final cable shoots you right over the rapids where you arrive at our traditional Mexican palapa. (thatched roofed bar)
